Looks like Wikipedia which is ranked high for almost every search term is planning on creating a search engine that would be open source....

After reading the article and being familar with things like p2p and even sites like this, it seems like some people will be able to munipulate the results where as google's closed system is pretty much under google's complete control.

It will be interesting to see if this project takes off and how we can make money from it.
